This morning, was told at the Post Office that my ebay label (£8.35) was only for 100g weight. Parcel weighed 128g. I offered to pay extra but this wasn't possible. I ended up buying a new label for £9.85
Post Office suggested ebay might refund me the £8.35
How do I go about this? The virtual assistant has stated I can't cancel the label as the PO did scan it.

You then, did not pay for the £8.35 the buyer did, and subsequently, they will be receiving a refund for that unused label, but it will take 30 days.

You have to make sure you weigh & measure packed item before listing,
otherwise as you found out, it costs you extra.

This is an example of why letting buyer also buy the postage is not a good idea.
Buyer gets the refund, but you have paid out £9.85. There is no way to get buyer to pay you again, although no harm in asking. Any payment to you would need to be by paypal or bank transfer, as it is not possible through ebay.

This was not a Simple Delivery sale - the advice given so far is based on that assumption - but (I believe) this was a jewellery sale. Jewellery is not eligible for Simple Delivery.
The buyer paid for postage, paying the seller for RM Special Delivery.
The Post Office scanned the label, which the seller purchased through Ebay, but it couldn't be used because of the size/weight of the item.
So, this is what I would do.
First of all, see if you can cancel the unused label.
Labels purchased on the eBay labels platform need to be used within 14 calendar days. If unused, make sure to void the label within 14 calendar days to get a refund.
Here's how to void a postage label in My eBay or Seller Hub:
If that doesn't work, contact Ebay Customer Services (link below). Explain what has happened and that the label bought through Ebay has been scanned but will not be used, and ask them for a refund.
