Speaking in terms of Royal Mail.
I send expensive items 'Signed For'.
Less expensive items at the post office go standard and I obtain a proof of postage which has a number which I enter into the tracked field when I say the item has been dispatched.
This tracking lists 1/ at the post office and 2/ delivered to the address ( no intermediate stops).
Is this not sufficient tracking?.
Also I was recently offered at the post office to upgrade for 20p to tracked. (not signed for).
What's the difference between the proof of postage and 20p tracked service?.
I'm totally confused. Thanks All.

Proof of posting only shows you posted an item, where as a tracked/signed for service means it gets scanned/signed for on delivery to prove items are delivered to customers and to show on ebay.

But I am saying my proof of postage is tracked from P.O. to the address. I get a tick when delivered. So can see out - sent from P.O. and then delivered. Why is this not enough?.

Not enough for what?
A tracking number showing delivery protects you from an eBay or PayPal item not received claim, or a not received chargeback if the buyer goes to their debit/credit card provider.

No, proof of postage shows me when it has been sent ( also to buyers) and when delivered. Using it since 2020. What is proof of postage?, I don't understand it. Proof of Postage does show when is it delivered, without the gaps - Gatwick - Liverpool etc and when it arrives and you get a Big Tick.
I can show eBay the big tick and delivered. Is this not accecptable in the grand scheme?.Thanks Xx

Yes, it is acceptable. eBay have always accepted the confirmed delivery number the same as they do a tracking number as far as "not received" case are concerned. So you're fine.
Years ago we used to just get proof of posting that only showed the item had been sent. There was no delivery confirmation number. It's not like that anymore.

Don't understand this. I enter the numbers, see left P.O. and date delivered. Basic numbers of the proof of postage. Done it since Covid and works. Proof of postage shows more than just posted. It also shows delivery. Just basic standard 2nd class post using the number on the till receipt.

You don't need full tracking, I.e. every step.
As long as you upload reference on proof of posting and it shows when delivered, you are covered.
If not delivered, you claim from carrier.

The number on my proof of postage shows, left the P.O. and delivery. Back to the basic quesion, is this enough to be tracked delivery? I don't understand why with obviously basic tracking, out and into the buyer house this is not enough. This is second class postage with a proof of postage ticket.

Yes as long as it shows delivered, you are OK.

Thank you, but does this comply with 'simply delivery'. Proof of postage and a tick from R.M. when delivered?.
It's not 'signed for' only tracked out and in. I must be missing something. It's as usual.
Thank you, you and Yvolla for being long term helpmates.

It's not tracked as such because you don't know where it is on its journey, but it provides proof of delivery, which is sufficient for payment to be released.
All that might change with simple delivery.
