POLICY VIOLATION

Hi,

I have just received a Policy Violation for a Cement Trowel that was sold in early April saying it was in the Knifes Policy and required Age Verification postage. Why has it taken so long for Ebay to contact me and I have looked at the restricted items and it does not list Cement Trowels. Should I be concerned as I was nor aware I had done anything wrong.

Many thanks in advance

POLICY VIOLATION

I sometimes tease eBay's AI search system by throwing questions at it.

To be fair, in answer to "Is a cement trowel covered by ebay's knives policy" it produced the explicit and clear advice below:

A cement trowel is not listed among the prohibited knives or bladed products on eBay.

eBay's knives and bladed items policy generally prohibits knives and bladed products intended as weapons or certain types of knives such as pocket knives, folding knives, razor blades, and illegal knives. However, tools such as axes, billhooks, chisels, hatchets, and similar tools are allowed with age verification and proper delivery guidelines.

Since a cement trowel is a tool and not a knife or weapon, it is not covered by the knives policy restrictions. You'll find more information in our Help pages.

I'm not sure whether there's an appeal procedure or you need to contact customer support. Either way, you could suggest that eBay should perhaps consult its own AI guidance before issuing policy violation notices.
