New buyers protection

I have just seen the latest changes to eBay's buyers protection rules. This is for private sales only. But why do eBay take no notice when I report an item which is clearly being sold by a business, and then informs me that the "auto/computer" checking system says that there is no issue !? There is a big increase in sellers , who are really businesses now listing themselves as private sellers. Obviously [to mind mind anyway] ebay would have to employ thousands of additional staff just to scrutinize every listing that was reported for one reason or another, but they are also allowing businesses to post items for free [so they loose out anyway] but more importantly buyers are not protected properly when issues occur after purchase, as well as HMRC data collection for company tax reasons etc. IMO all businesses in the UK must abide by company law and provide customers with all of the legally binding information. This issue has been going on on ebay for years, and is getting worse with the plethora of Chinese  products be itemised without the above mentioned info displayed ! I assume because ebay is not based in the UK, that they can get away with this..although I may be wrong ?!

I hope that this sort of stuff is sorted out asap, but I am not "holding my breath" !

This is something ebay are actively looking into, and yes, not all reports get actioned on.

So what is the point of reporting stuff if you say "not all reports get actioned on". Thanks for wasting my time...I will not be bothering reporting the bad stuff any longer and let eBay carry on supporting criminals and others {scammers} as per usual.

I understand your frustration, but I am a member just like you who tries to help others.

I can't control ebay anymore than you can when it comes to reports,we can only try,as a lot of reports go through AI and that is not 100%

I am sorry if my reply came across as being aimed at you personally, but
every one of my recent reports to ebay has been "looked-into" by what is
now [wrongly] called AI, and most of them could be easily seen as not being
compatible with the ebay rules. I have also suggested to eBay that if that
is the case, then it might be a good idea to have a close look at their
computer [so called AI] system , as it is clearly not working as it should.
FYI, the real reason that I spend my time sending reports to ebay, is that
I am trying to get some "stuff" removed from the site in order to save
others from being scammed or wasting their money and time buying "stuff"
that does not, amongst other things, meet the minimum manufacturing standard
which are required by UK law in order that businesses can sell in the UK. I
know that this would require eBay to employ many many more staff who would
be needed to examine every seller's items and that would be impossible, but
that of course is one of the reasons that they have a report system in
place in the first place I thought ?!

It is business sellers who are losing out to unfair competition, and they should report as more attention might be taken, if they can get past AI.

In the announcement when Free Listings and selling fees were announced, ebay did imply they were cracking down on private sellers who should be registered as Business Sellers, and occasionally on here we see a seller complaining they have been suspended, and looking at what they sell, the reason is obvious, but it does seem that the crackdown is half hearted to say the least.

From the latest announcement, it would appear the solution is to get rid of private sellers completely.

I agree, but our [magnificent and wonderful] UK government is now demanding
that ebay [and many other similar websites] disclose all money transactions
on ebay so they can get as much money from everyone, especially private
sellers. Big Brother or what...I may be wrong here , but I assume that most
private sellers on ebay are not aware of this...but they will be in for a
shock when they get a letter from HMRC ! Brother Stalin would have been
very impressed indeed with what is going on here in the UK these
days methinks.
