Absolutely baffled. I am a new account and it is not allowing me to list items. Once I've completed the listing and click to list it, I get a red box informing me that because its a new account there's a hold on my account and I need to contact ebay (no contact details given, no reference code etc)
"In order to keep eBay a safe and trustworthy environment, we regularly review marketplace activity. As part of our review, we've temporarily placed a selling hold on your account. This hold will prevent you from listing new items.
To remove the hold on your account, please contact a member of our customer service agents who will happy to assist."
I have called and cannot get through.
I have spent about 15 minutes on live chat and the automated bot gives useless answers and then when I eventually get it to understand I want to speak to a human, it tells me no advisors are online.
The wording of their error code "prevent you from listing new items"... does this mean I cannot list items that are in NEW condition, or is it just terribly worded and actually means "you can't post new listings".
I am in UK. I'm not using a VPN. I created the account about 2 months ago and have not listed anything yet. I haven't bought anything yet either as I can only buy buy it now items and restricted from bidding.
I really don't know how ebay expects to keep market share over Vinted when they make it impossible for new users to start using their website!!!!

There is no phone number to call eBay , communication is best through a Call Back option. I do recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning at 8 a.m. on weekdays, when the lines first open for ' live agents', as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open for ' live agents' 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays
9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.
Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.
As said, I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Then it might dawn upon you that a number of hours after posting this question, I eventually resolved it. Keep up.

thanks. Wasn't aware they operated in Dublin as the few other message boards I came across when looking for assistance seemed to suggest that the customer service is basically call centres oustide of Europe.
