eBay may hold any payouts that you're owed and will freeze your account if you're unable to supply one.

If you live in the UK: You must apply for a National Insurance number on GOV.UK if you do not have one.

If you are a foreign seller: Provide your equivalent tax identification number from your country of residence.

Re: NATIONAL INSSURANCE NUMBER

It is an HMRC requirement that you supply NI number to ebay.

As said, ebay may not release payments until you do.

Re: NATIONAL INSSURANCE NUMBER

If you have gone over that threshold, Ebay will have to report your sales to HMRC - the tax people.

Ebay know your full name, your home address, your bank account details etc.

HMRC might think it strange that somebody who does not have a NI number, owns items worth hundreds of £.

If you do have an NI number, you should supply it to Ebay.

If you don't, then you should probably apply for one.

Ebay will probably eventually freeze your selling account and may hold any funds from recent sales.  However, if HMRC decide to investigate you, Ebay not allowing you to sell may be the least of your worries.

Re: NATIONAL INSSURANCE NUMBER

You have 11 items listed - you should cancel your listings before somebody makes a purchase from you.

In your opening post, you said you did not have a NI number.

If you do, there is no reason not to supply it to Ebay.

Whoever advised you not to give Ebay your NI number may not have all the facts.

There are lots of conspiracy theories about not giving information out, most spawned on social media and without substance.

I've supplied my National Insurance number to eBay .
