Hi - can you please help me with the following?
I recently purchased a lamp in the UK for £9 expecting it to come with a shade as shown on the main image photo but it only came with the main bottom piece.
After contacting the supplier, I was told that the item description stated that it doesn’t come with the shade; this was not very clear during the original purchase. However, we agreed to return the item only then to learn that it would cost me an unusually high £8 to return the item.
I received a refund for the actual item but couldn’t negotiate a refund for the postage cost despite stating the misleading photo and feeling that I was being forced to keep the item with the high return postage.
Thanks!

If it is a change of mind return, you do have to pay the return postage and there is no way to reclaim the amount paid.
I can't see the item to judge if it was misleading, but it is really important to read everything carefully and look at all of the images.
Because the postage was so high in relation to the cost of the item, it might even have been better to keep the lamp and buy a separate shade or even sell the lamp on yourself.

As photos form part of the listing description you could have made a claim for item not as described and sent it back at the seller's cost.
Even business sellers need to be careful to only show what you will actually receive.

Thanks for the prompt feedback!
Yes, I probably should have kept the base of the lamp and looked for a shade - the shade was not easy to find, as you can see the main item photo shows the base and shade:

Since my purchase, the seller has added a visual note stating that the item does not come with a shade - I wonder how many eBay customers made the same mistake as me?
So, there is now way to get my high postage costs back from eBay or seller?
