Mercury barometers

Hi,  are they any restrictions on listing for sale vintage barometers that contain mercury? I've had a listing automatically ended for the sale of an Admiral Fitzroy Barometer (of which several are currently listed  by other sellers on ebay).

My mistake was likely that I used the phrase 'mercury is probably banned by the postal service' which I used to reinforce the point that the barometer was for collection only from my home address and that the item would not be posted under any circumstances.

I have looked through the hazardous materials policy and can find no references to mercury being prohibited.

The question yhen is this; If I relist the barometer as buyer collects and do not mention the mercury (of which most barometers and thermometers contain) will the listing be approved or again deleted?

Many thanks.

No! They are prohibited mercury being a hazardous material, through the post as you say. I suspect if list as pick up only the eBay bots will still remove the item.

Mercury barometers

hi,  Thanks for the prompt reply, it's much appreciated.  Just to clarify, could you please point me to the document that states mercury is a hazardous substance as I cannot see it mentioned in the hazardous substances policy.

Would this mean that all of the other mercury thermometer and barometer listings are in contravention of policy and should be ended?

Thanks again for you help,

Kinds regards,

Pb

Please ignore my last reply - I didn't read your reply correctly and missed the point you were making about mercury being a hazardous substance as regards to being sent in the post.

Thanks again,
