Lost parcel that I have sent

Hi, I sold an item on the 29th Aug. Item is worth £550 including the postage and buyer protection fee etc.

Evri collected the parcel from me and then from there it seems to have vanished. Evri tell me that they’re looking into it for me but I’m getting nothing back from them. The buyer is understandably going to want a refund (the buyer being extremely good and patient about the whole thing) which I know they are very entitled to. But then I’m going to be out of pocket £550! This doesn’t seem right to me. Is there any advice anyone can give me please? I find it really hard to accept that Evri could just wash their hands of it and leave the responsibility with me…?

thanks in advance. Any help would be massively appreciated.

If buyer paid buyer protection fee, then he opens a “not received” case and ebay should refund, not you.

if you used Simple delivery then ebay cover the refund.

If you didn't, then you need to refund and claim from evri.

I assume it was the Epiphone Firebird guitar?

That is the only item you sold late in August for that sort of price.

You charged £30 for 'other courier' delivery because the item was too large to send with Simple Delivery.

It is all bad news, I am afraid.

You are responsible for refunding the buyer for the amount they paid.

Evri do not offer cover for musical instruments as they are on their prohibited list.  As the seller, it was up to you to make sure that you sent such a pricey item with sufficient cover so you will have to stand the loss.

The buyer protection fee has nothing to do with money back guarantee protection.

Ebay refunding is part of seller protection under Simple delivery.
