I have bought some ladders, the company offer money back guarantee. The rungs as it turns out are to too thin for me and not comfortable. Asking the company to return the item they have agreed but want to charge me £50 plus VAT. Is this standard practice or is this unfair? Thanks.

Buying on eBay from a UK registered seller, they will have ( should have! ) a Returns policy.
To return the items for a full refund, you would have to pay for that tracked return postage for returning them for the reason.... ' do not like the item/ change of mind '.
Is this the £50 they are quoting? The postage cost?

It depends what the reason is - if it's a restocking fee then no, it's not reasonable, but if it's the cost of the return postage it might be.
So, what's the £50 + VAT for?

This is their response We do unfortunately have to charge collections which is £49.99 plus VAT.

It is up to you to pay that fee for them to collect as you have decided the ladder is unsuitable for you.
If it isn't worth paying the fee, you could perhaps sell the ladders and get some of your money back that way.
Do they say on the listing that the return will be so expensive?
What is the item number?
