LUCID registration for goods sent to Germany

Last year eBay forced me to upgrade to a business seller even though I am a 74 year old pensioner selling my stamp collection which I have collected  for about 60 years. I complied nonetheless. 

However, I received an email from eBay today saying that my account may be restricted if I do not register a LUCID number selling on eBay.de. I do not sell eBay.de just eBay.uk but I have 4 or 5 German buyers.

LUCID has something to do with packaging and recycling and as far as I am aware only applies to manufacturers exporting to Germany.

I contacted a friend of mine in Germany and he said that in my case it was not necessary to register.

eBay cannot help they just put me through to someone in Germany who couldn't speak English and my German is quite rusty these days.

Can anyone throw any light on this matter?

If you're a business seller with buyers based in Germany, you need to make sure you’re compliant with the German Packaging Act. This means you need to buy a licence for your packaging and make sure the details are registered. This applies to all business sellers with buyers based in Germany, whether you package and ship items yourself, or import prepackaged goods into Germany.

Essentially, business sellers do need a licence.  As you don't have one, it would be a good idea to exclude Germany from the list of countries you will sell to.
