Item not received

I made a purchase on Ebay 20th Feb,  the item was for collection and Ebay have a collection system in place whereby a QR code or a 6 digit number is presented to the seller for confirmation of collection, the item was covered by Ebay Buyer protection. After contacting the seller for collection details they would not reply to any of my messages and I suspected things not to be right, so I decided to cancel my order using the cancellation procedure and opened a case with PayPal which unknown to me automatically closed the Ebay cancellation procedure . The seller eventually contacted me to say " Sorry but these were sold some time ago"?? I have screen shot my messages sent to seller. I opened a case with PayPal (my payment method) and they decided in the sellers favour stating the seller had provided delivery details., this I strongly refute as the item was for collection only and PayPal haven't provided me with these fictitious delivery details (ie courier, date, time??) and if they did I, have video footage of the front door that would prove otherwise and that no such delivery was made. It appears that I can no longer log an 'item not received'  claim with Ebay because I trusted PayPal to sort this out.  I have 100% positive feedback after hundreds of transactions and the seller gas none...... Don't this stand for anything.

Any ideas?

You would have been guaranteed to win an ebay case as the money back guarantee covers collection items where the buyer has not collected.

PayPal on the other hand does not seem to cover items collected in person, but not collected under its buyer protection.  Perhaps that's why you got that message from them?  Clearly not accurate but same result,  no refund.
