Item not as described

I purchased 2 digital calendars, after a few days the delivery day changed & the items wouldn’t arrive for when I needed them. I contacted the seller about returning the items and they offered a 10% discount. I accepted this thinking I could post them to who they was intended for. A couple of days later Royal Mail left me a card saying there was a custom charge to be paid £51.00! (Should’ve read the description correctly) I ended up paying this fee, sent the items on and one isn’t working. I’ve contacted the seller who asked me to forward a video, which I did on 1/1/26, messaged the seller again yesterday and they have just asked me to send a video again. I’ve tried getting help from eBay, but they are saying case closed can’t be appealed. Is there anything else I can do?

Hi vickel24, thanks for your post.

You should be able to file a return request under the reason "not working" or "not as described" and the seller will have to obligation to provide you a returns label, so you can send them the item back free of charge for a full refund. If you click here, you will be able to file the return request.

If the seller refuses to provide you with a returns label or take the item back, you can escalate the case to us after 3 business days since filing the return, and we will take actions accordingly.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi vickel24, thanks for your post.

I cannot see your screenshot, what options do you get when you try to open the return?

Thank you,

Marco

First off, when you say that eBay 'are saying case closed can’t be appealed', did you open an eBay return and has that now closed?

I opened a return because the item was arriving later than stated. I needed it for a certain day. Because the item was late they offered me a 10% discount which I accepted. The return was never completed
Thank you

If you accepted a partial refund, the case would close.

You cannot open another case for this item,  and you cannot appeal, because you agreed to the partial refund.

Hi vickel24, thanks for your reply.

If you filed a return, and the seller offered a partial refund and you accepted, that's considered as a solution and the case would close automatically after accepting the partial refund, if you are looking for a full refund, you should decline it. However, if you let me know the item number, I can take a further look for you to see what happened there.

Thank you,

Marco

18-13925-55664 This is the order number
I only accepted the offer because postage was going to be late. It was a Christmas gift and when my daughter plugged it in to set it up it isn't working, that's why I'm asking for a refund
Many thanks

Hi vickel24, thanks for your reply.

I've just taken a look there, and it looks like you filed a case back in December. However, because they offered a partial refund, and you've accepted it, that would close the case as advised above, and we wouldn't be able to take further steps here.

The only option you have here is messaging the buyer to see if they would be happy to take the item back, and refund the remaining balance.

Hope this clarifies everything,

Marco

Thank you for your reply. I can’t recall opening a case, I just asked the seller if I would be able to return the item because the delivery date changed and I would receive the items to late. I thought the offer of a small refund was a goodwill gesture. I do think this is unfair as now I’ve paid over £100 for an item that doesn’t work and the seller is asking me if I could sell it on on eBay to get my money back that way, how fair is that to other buyers?

Debby

Late delivery would have enabled you to open a NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE to return at sellers expense for a full refund.

As already said by accepting a part refund, you cannot now do anything through ebay. You could contact your payment provider to see if they can help.
