Is this a scam?

Hi. So a buyer purchase one of my items (a used phone) and decided to collect. They then messaged me asking to arrange a collection once they’ve confirmed their shifts at work. Today they’ve messaged that they are now unable to collect the item and would like me to post it to them instead, giving me their address. They also sent me the collection code. If I decide to post it to them instead (even though they’ve selected collection), is this against guidelines and will it backfire on me? Even if I have the collection code?

Thanks

The collection code proves that the buyer has the item.   So the fact you won't have tracking to prove postal delivery shouldn't matter.  If anything it's not good for the buyer because if the item is lost in transit they won't be able to do anything about it.

If you wanted to keep it all above aboard you'd have to cancel/refund and relist with postage for them to buy again.

Your buyer is being very trusting by sending you the collection code as you can input that and get paid and they can't claim they didn't get it.

I would go ahead and post it to them.  It won't backfire on you.  The  buyer will still have money back guarantee protection for an item not as described claim.

Providing you don't post it before adding that code (to ensure that it is a valid one) I can't see a problem here.
