I purchased a vehicle from EBay motors. I couldn’t find anywhere to make payment. The motor dealer advised bank transfer. I wanted confirmation from eBay that this was ok to complete and what my protection was, I was told by the advisor the motor company was reputable had excellent feedback and said that I would be 100% protected by eBay my money was safe?? I asked quite a few times during my call and they even went away to ask their supervisor. They came back and said I was 100% covered and to go ahead with the transfer I was 100% protected by eBay. We went through every detail regarding my purchase which I have the recording of the call through a SAR the vehicle arrived and let’s just say, it shouldn’t be on the road. Due to the pandemic I couldn’t view it but was offered. 7 day money back guarantee. The motor dealer is actually a scammer, I have contacted trading standards, action fraud, bank they say if misguided EBay should be doing something about it. They removed the motor dealer James Harrison Cars1 but he popped up a week later on eBay with a different name but all the same credentials and still ripping people off. I haven’t purchased anything for this value so needed eBAy advice. Everything was confirmed and that I was safe and 100% protected eBay have agreed I have been misguided and that they’re staff needed retraining but refuse to do anything about my loss, not even support in getting this vehicle put right. How can it be that they admit liability but will not help support me as a customer to put it right, I was thinking small claims court or no win no fee solicitor as I have the full recording of the call and email from Logan Hargreaves of the president team admitting their wrong doing and being misadvised. Training incompetent staff doesn't help me.
If you paid without seeing or inspecting the vehicle, consider yourself lucky that the vehicle even existed, most scams are just a photograph of a vehicle taken from magazines or photographed on someones driveway.
Asking CS for advice is about the worse thing you should do, always ask anything on here, if we don't know the answer we will say so.
If you have never noticed listingson the top right have the Money Back Guarantee, but NOT on vehicles. Vehiclesshould only be paid for in cash after making every check possible. Bank Transfers should only be made to a person you know and trust as they are not reversible. In effect you are giving money away.
There is no protection on ebay when buying a motor.
When you do buy you should always go and do all relevelnt checks the item out first before paying in cash and taking it away.
If you were given that advice by ebay then it was definately wrong
Motors are the biggest scam on ebay and well known
If you google you will find many warnings
There is no 7 days money back. Whe offered you that? The seller?
All you can do it take your own legal action
