I've put the wrong simple label on two parcels

On Thursday I went to the post office with a large letter and a medium parcel. Stupidly, they had the wrong labels applied: the large letter was on the medium parcel and the medium one was on the large letter. Fortunately, the post office system was down and they couldn't process anything that day. Since I didn't yet know about the label mix-up, I put the large letter in the letter box and went home with the medium parcel which I posted next day. On Saturday the buyer said that instead of a medium parcel arriving he had got a large letter. This alerted me to the problem and I told him what happened and that his medium parcel should arrive on Monday. But it's not going to, is it? Because as far as R.M. are concerned they have delivered it on Saturday. You can't use the same label twice. even though the big parcel went through the post office and I've a receipt with tracking which needless to say says it's been delivered. So what's going to happen with my big parcel? Will they deliver it or not? Why was it accepted at the post office? Had they not scanned the large letter I put in the letterbox? Might there be hope?

       Thanks in advance,

       Dan.

To sum up: I've posted two parcels, a large letter and a medium parcel both with the same 48 hour label and to the same address. The large letter which went into the letterbox on Thursday was delivered on Saturday. What I want to know is: will the medium parcel, which was successfully scanned at my post office on friday, also be delivered?

Your best bet is to go back to your post office and ask them.
