I presume ebay are trying to lose sales/sellers/items

I have an item which brand new is worth £10. It will in reality cost £4 to post. It's a light but bulky gym accessory

If I charge the buyer £4 (plus ebays buyer protection -- because chasing up fraud is apparently too much effort for ebay, it's much easier just to re imburse from the ebay "buyer protection funded" £kitty), they will not buy it.

If I charge the buyer 99p, and sell it for £10, I have actually made £6, but have sold it.

If ebay does not give me the option to manually charge 99p, it won't be sold on ebay.

ebay obviously considers their increased profits from other sales using forced "Simple delivery", more important than mine. But I could have told you that.

hope that helps.

I'd never suggest that ebay are trying to do away with low value items

You will only know that if you try.  We are in a state of flux with simple delivery and some sellers still have the opportunity to avoid it altogether and some have the opportunity to not use it because their items are of a price and size that allows them to exclude it.

You have not understood what the buyer protection fee covers by the way.

Do you have an actual question we can help with?

The question seems clear - is there the option to manually set postage

It seems at the moment as if manual setting of delivery has been removed

I suppose my post was just to affirm any other users who might have negative feedback of this, the same as me. Possibly other users who have the same opinion might find this post useful

addit - I've done a quick browse of another item other sellers are selling, and all of their postage is at "simple delivery" amount. Either people are just not bothering to change the postage, or they can't.

If anyone from ebay is reading -- yes, that postage amount is putting me off buying. So you're losing sales...

Ebay really did just become a whole lot less useful -- for some people

I still have this page when listing and using advanced lets me chose the postage.

Ebay obviously do not understand that advanced means it is a lot better than “simple”, which is far from simple.

I clicked the wrong button, there isn't a solution to my post so far.

It's the way "Accept Solution" is exactly the same style button as "Reply". I wonder what ebay is trying to accomplish here. I wonder.

Can you tell me what your interpretation of what the buyer protection covers? My interpretation is that actually chasing up sellers and finding a solution is too much effort. It's easier just to "delve into the ebay £££kitty"

thanks john. Last week, I did have all of those (not deliberate, of course) convoluted options.

This week I don't.
