I bought an item a few days ago, but it was a mistake and I apologized to the seller and requested a refund.

The seller also agreed to the refund, and the ebay system told me to wait until a certain date for the refund.

I waited until a certain date, but the ebay system only said that the refund could not be made without giving me the reason. What can I do?

The seller has to not just agree,  but to issue a cancellation request citing ' Buyer Requests to Cancel'  ask them to do this.

Once eBay notify you the refund is made,  being processed,  then it's not instantly returned to you,  and does go back to original payment source.

If you paid with PayPal it goes back to your PayPal account fairly swiftly.

Paying with a debit / bank card?  Can take up to 12 days to appear back in your bank account.

Credit card payment?  This takes the longest,  up to 30 days to appear back in the card account used.
