How to turn off the "automatic relisting" feature on items?

I am a private seller in the UK - I don't know if that makes a difference.

I am selling items via auction & buy it now options.

I have had a number of items that have not sold, but ebay keeps relisting them.  I know I can go in and "end the listing" but I really want to not relist in the first place.

I ready a post elsewhere which says:-

go to the selling page

look at your active listing and use the drop down menu to remove auto relist.

When I do this, I can see the active item, there is a box that says "sell similar item" with a down arrow.

The down arrow provides menu options of "revise" "share listing" "see traffic history" "end listing"

No where can I see an option to stop automatic relisting.

Also I been listing items today, and I can't see anything on the page when you are creating your listing to set no automatic relisting.

Re: How to turn off the "automatic relisting" feature on items?

In theory this should not be available, but if the option to relist appears, then you should not use it.

I have never seen it but suggest you read what it says here. You can hardly be described as a NEW OR OCCASIONAL SELLER, as it is only offered  on that basis.

SEE BELOW Keep in mind that the automatic relist option is only available on listings created by new and occasional sellers. The option will not show for other sellers.

If an item you list on eBay doesn't sell, we can automatically relist it for you to get it back in front of buyers.

You can also relist your item manually if you need to. For example, if you ended your listing early for some reason but now you want to put it back up on eBay.

When an item is relisted, either automatically or manually, it can take a few hours before it appears on the site.

Automatic relists and renewals

Auction-style listings

If you select the auto-relist option (if available) when you create your listing:

  • Auctions with a duration of 5 days or more will be automatically relisted up to 8 times
  • Auctions with a duration of 1 or 3 days will be automatically relisted up to 8 times as a 7-day listing
  • Auto-relists are free, except for listings in vehicles categories

Automatic relisting is available for most categories, but there are some exclusions (see below). If your item doesn't sell after 8 relists, it will appear in your unsold items.

Keep in mind that the automatic relist option is only available on listings created by new and occasional sellers. The option will not show for other sellers.

    Categories excluded from automatic relisting

Items in some categories can't be relisted automatically, including:

    • Business > Businesses for Sale
    • Home & Garden > Real Estate
    • Tickets, Travel > Flights
    • Tickets, Travel > Tickets
    • Tickets, Travel > Travel
    • Tickets, Travel > Vouchers, Gift Certificates

Re: How to turn off the "automatic relisting" feature on items?

Thanks for your response, but I'm not sure you understand my problem.

Ebay is automatically relisting unsold items, repeatedly, up to 8 times.  This is something Ebay is doing to me.

I've been on Ebay for about 20 years, in that time I have sold @100 items so about 5 items a year, hardly business useage, I use ebay when I'm clearing cupboards, therefore it is an eclectic mix of things.

My usage of the last couple of weeks is not excessive, just Ebay repeatedly relisting items up to 8 times.

If something doesn't sell, I don't want to necessarily relist it.

When writing a listing I look to see if there is a setting about relisting, and I can't see any setting to alter.

If I look on the selling desktop at active items, there doesn't appear to be a setting there to alter either.

I'm currently using the "end listing" option, but feel this is a way for Ebay to up the count of listing per month eating into the free allowance.
