How to get VAT receipts?

I've bought some items from Ebay which include VAT (the seller's are VAT registered). However when I ask for a VAT receipt I'm told that they can't provide one as the amount is different to what I paid as Ebay collected the VAT.

I can't see any option to download a VAT receipt in the order details in Ebay.

So how do I get a receipt and reclaim the VAT?

Only a VAT registered seller can supply VAT invoice.

You need to contact them.

Normal ebay invoice does not provide the info.

This is what I've done but a couple of sellers have told me they can't provide them as the total is different to what I paid as Ebay collected the VAT. I assume that's incorrect and they can still issue a VAT receipt then?

Only time ebay collect VAT is when you buy from non UK seller.

Otherwise VAT is included in total price you pay.
