How do I mark a return item as sent, as a buyer

I bought an item which was faulty and requested to return it for a refund. I posted the item back to the seller 10 days ago. I cannot see any way of marking the item as posted. I have only 2 days left before the shipping deadline to mark the item as posted, and then I am assuming the request is closed automatically?

How do I notify eBay that I have posted the item please?

If you used the postage label supplied through the return case on ebay you don't need to do anything.    It should have updated itself.  

If you didn't use the ebay label see if you can change the tracking number via the return case.   Select the courier and add the tracking.
