How can I reduce the amount of wording customers can enter in the personalisation field box?

Hi @signs-online ,
Yes I will share your feedback on being able to set that character limit with our development team as part of a future enhancement.
Please also see @*vyolla* useful suggestion that may help with getting buyers to only put what's required.
Thank you,
Kat

I doubt that any of us have any experience with this, as I have never seen this box. I expect there is a maximum allowed, but obviously you want to set your own maximum.
I can only suggest a large note possibly in red warning of maximum you can accept, and hope buyers read it.

Thanks for the tag @tommystrezures ,
Hi @signs-online ,
Thank you for your post.
The maximum is set to 250 characters but I'm afraid there is no ability to reduce that amount. Its set like that as per design and there is no current plans to change that at the moment.
You could do as already suggested and advise of your limit it in your listing.
Thank you,
Kat

Unfortunately most buyers fail to read the description and fill the box regardless

Hi Kat, unfortunately most buyers ignore or fail to read the description and just keep typing until the box is full which is a pain as then it means lots of messaging back & forth to come to a compromise which takes up valuable time in fulfilling other orders.
Is this something you could suggest to the powers that be? If we could specify the amount of letters per item it would certainly save a lot of time.
Kind Regards
Phil

You could change your personalisation instructions so that it actually states how many characters they may use, for example:
That'll then show on the listing above the personalisation message box.

Thank you, I have tried this before but again the same problem, but yes I will do this again on my listings and hope that some will stick to it.
Many Thanks
