Help Needed – Returned Item to Seller but Being Ignored

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on a situation I’m currently facing with a return.

I purchased an item on eBay which unfortunately didn’t fit my car. I collected the item in person, and when I realised it wasn’t suitable, I initiated a return request, which the seller accepted.

However, when I tried to return the item by post, I encountered issues—the return address provided couldn’t be located, and the courier couldn’t deliver it. After some frustration, I decided to return the item personally, just as I had collected it. I went to the same address, dropped off the item safely, and took photos as proof of the return.

I also called the seller using the same phone number he gave me when I arranged collection, but the person who answered pretended it was a wrong number. I messaged him again and sent the pictures as proof of return. He responded once saying he was “away,” but since then he has stopped replying to my messages and hasn't confirmed receipt.

At this point, I’m not sure what steps to take. I feel like I’ve done everything I can to return the item properly. Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? What should I do next to ensure I get my refund?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Help Needed – Returned Item to Seller but Being Ignored

You could call eBay Customer Services explain what has happened but as there is obviously no tracking to show the return, unless they make a discretionary refund, which they are not obliged to,  they may not be able to help.

With photos of the returned item at the seller's address,  you may have enough to go down a legal route for the return of your money, if you wish to pursue this further.

If you need to,  this is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
