Got email from eBay about performance below their standards yet no outstanding issues

Been told to go on portal and improve performance but thought everything was going well and no problems whatsoever.. is this common?

Yes,  it is common,  but we here as memberrs like yourself,  have no access to your account to see where these failings lie for you to improve on.

Your star ratings look fine.

Go to your seller dashboard, click on your feedback score top left of your homepage,  then far right onto seller dashboard that will show you your seller levels.
