Hi. Something I listed had 2 bidders and so the item was sold when the listing completed. Unfortunately the winning bidder never paid or made contact despite a reminder by my (and presumably eBay). I contacted him directly and he said he thought he had cancelled his bid ( he hadn’t and the item still showed as unpaid). I asked him to do so but had no further contact. In the end I spoke to an agent at eBay who talked me through what to do and told me I should leave feedback for the buyer for wasting my time. However, it seems I’m only given the option of choosing “positive”. Does anyone know how I can leave feedback in these circumstances to reflect what actually happened? By the time the buyer got back to me it was too late for me to go to bidder number 2

Yet again customer service giving incorrect advice,a seller cannot leave a negative reply on buyers feedback, best not to leave any

Oh my word, ( stronger expletives not allowed on here, more's the pity ,sometimes!) another big boo- boo from Customer Services!
They told you to....

As you can correctly see only a Positive feedback can be left for buyers leaving a negative comment there would result in a policy violation for your account. Such Bad advice from CS, sorry!
Issuing an unpaid item case is your best outcome for non payers, if they receive 2 they cannot buy from the majority of sellers in a full 12 months. If they keep gaining this strikes, messing sellers about, eBay will remove their buying privileges.
dave@ebay anyway to trace the CS agent who gave out such bad advice here?

Thank you for the reply. Sadly this is the second time I’ve needed to talk to CS this year and given incorrect advice both times. The CS agent even got a bit shirty this time as the advice he was giving didn’t match up with my screens as I followed the advice. Not sure what I can do now to rectify?

The reason they bid and then didn’t pay I think was because they bid before reading it was collection only. Maybe they only realised after they had won. What was annoying was that they then did nothing to rectify ignoring my messages and no apology when they did finally reply. I’m losing faith in customer services. This is the 2nd time in only 2 times I’ve needed them to get incorrect advice

When was the sale? Buyers have 4 days to pay, once on day 5 seller should cancel sale for non payment, that also prevents any feedback being left as some buyers would leave negatives. Was the sale so long ago that you are out of time to cancel sale?
Also once original sale cancelled you could have made a second chance offer to underbidder.
From ebay’s information about second chance offers -
You can make Second Chance Offers up to 60 days after an auction ends.

Sadly out of time. When I checked the buyer after the sale he had a message to say he was on holiday so I left it until after he returned, by which time it was too late to cancel. It’s all learning for me I suppose. In hindsight I should just have cancelled when I saw the message and gone to the other bidder

If in doubt, at the top of most pages HELP AND CONTACT. If you just enter the subject, in this case for example “Unpaid purchase” and usually there will be all the information you need.
When it comes to timings, ebay is always strict on them, so it pays to either know or where to find the information.
I am afraid that it sometimes seems that ebay CS is manned, by children on work experience.

Yep, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but no one can honestly put their hand up and say they have never made any error big or small, as a buyer or seller, it happens, it's a learning curve for us all!
Hope you've blocked this person from returning to your sales, add their ID here:
