Getting payment for an item

I’ve sold an in-person collection . I’ve changed it to posting it because the buyer is too far to collect. 
we’ve agreed a price the buyer is asking for my bank details to transfer money. Is that normal ?

No it's not normal, all payments must go through eBay checkout unless its a vehicle.

If buyer has already paid, then paying any extra has be done outside ebay.

If however no payment has been made he must pay through checkout in the normal way.

It would be foolish of buyer to pay by bank transfer, as item would not show as paid, you could keep the money and cancel the sale as unpaid. 

Also buyer could go to bank claiming he had not received purchase and get a refund that way.

I am not saying that you or buyer would do this, but there are good reasons to follow the allowed system.
