Faulty motorcycle battery.

I purchased a motorcycle battery in June. It was sold with a 12 month warranty but I have tried messaging the seller numerous times but the seller doesn't respond. Looking at their feedback he appears to have a history of this. How do I proceed? I've tried reporting it to ebay but I seem to be going around in circles.

Ebay MBG is only for 30 days, so too late.

Your payment provider may help.

If UK business seller, contact citizens advice for help.

eBay won't get involved with warranty issues, they have a 30 day Money Back Guarantee and you're obviously way past that now.

Any warranty is only ever going to be as good as your ability to enforce it when required.

If you funded your payment with a debit or credit card you have 120 days to issue a not as described chargeback.

If your seller is a UK registered business you could contact Citizens Advice and ask if they recommend running this by Trading Standards.

Makes me wonder what is the point of buying something with a years guarantee on ebay then. May as well buy it locally. Surely if it's advertised with a years warranty it should be valid.

Yes it should, but this is eBay. eBay has no interest after their own 30 day money back guarantee has expired. After that, any responsibnility rests with the seller.

Unfortunately the warranties offered by many sellers here are meaningless, and even manufacturers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought here.

eBay warns buyers in the user agreement that "they do not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions". Would you have bought this battery from a shop that stated this? You can't say that you were not warned. Buying on eBay isn't like the shops. eBay is a jungle.

You haven't told us how you paid, but if you paid or funded the payent from a credit or debit card (especially a credit card) have a word with your card issuer. They may still be able to help.
