Faulty item

I received a faulty item and it was found faulty after it was installed in the car. It is the drive shaft and not easy to remove. The mechanic is asking for further fee to remove it and reinstall the old one. The seller accepts return but postage shall be paid by the buyer. So even if I return this item there will be cost if installation, cost removal and reinstalling of the old one and cost of postage. I will incurr many charges due to seller selling a faulty item. What should I do? Any advise is highly appreciated.

If its within 30 days of delivery open a not as described case and the seller has to issue a prepaid returns label.

Other costs/expenses are between you and the seller.

You should ask citizens advice for advice.

All ebay will do is help you get a refund for the original cost of the item and outward postage. But the seller is wrong in one respect,  they are the ones that have to pay the return postage cost.

You need to read how the ebay money back guarantee works.
