Evri unable to deliver, item returned to seller

Item delivery was to go to my local post office, an Evri ParcelShop. from the tracking they made one attempt to deliver it, after working hours, gave up and returned to sender. Seller has the item back, but can't send it again as Evri is saying it was delivered.

should I file a claim - not delivered, they can then offer a 'replacement' and send me the same item again, to my home address

or is there a proper way to do it?

If the tracking is saying delivered you won't be able to open a "not received" case.   Or if you can it will shut down automatically.    If the seller cannot send it again ask them to cancel/refund the transaction.

Your seller is incorrect. Of course he can resend it if he wants, either as a new delivery through Evri or by post or other courier. Or he can simply cancel the sale and eBay will return your payment.

If they won't do this you will not be able to file a claim through eBay as they treat attempted delivery as being successfully delivered - even though it wasn't.

If you paid by PayPal you can file a dispute under their buyer protection policy. (PayPal requires tracking proof that the item was delivered, not just that it was attempted.)

Otherwise, you may be able to claim from your payment provider, e.g. credit or debit card issuer.
