Ebay wrongly assumed my payment details - how do I get my money from the black hole?

Hiya. Ebay, for some reason, assumed that the name on my bank account was different from what it actually is.  And you know what they say about assumptions.

I actually had told them about the new name, before any payments ever went through to me.

I don't know why, but they automatically filled in the 'name' field of my payment details with an old name. I had never ever assigned this name to these account details.

I've updated it now, but it means, my money has disappeared. Its my first time selling, I've checked my bank account, and my bank hasn't got the money in it. Due to Ebay's error. Question is, how will I get my money now?

Money does not disappear in the banking system, I would imagine that money eould eventuslly find its way back to the sender, ebay, but may take some time.

Do you mean the account number was also wrong, as if the correct Bank, Branch and Account number, I would think it would arrive whatever name was on it.

I have been retired for a long time, and systems have probably changed, but in my day a credit which could not be applied to an account would be on its way back to senders bank within 2 days.

There are links which you can use to see the bank account details to which money is sent, and it is up to account holder to see that they are up to date. I think it is most unlikely that ebay got the information wrong as it would merely be the information that you supplied.
