EBay Simple Postage

Hi I have sadly experienced two successive occasions as a seller when booking a Royal Mail collection for my parcels with eBay, when they were not collected, and when RM never received the collection request. I would not recommend using the collection option using RM, instead I will now book a pick up and include this within the cost of the item. So my experience has shown the unreliability of eBay collection booking service, they even accept this is not a guaranteed process, system errors and best endeavours, which you don’t encounter if you go direct to RM. I often use the RM collection service for bulky and heavy items (the one where they bring the label too for an extra 30p) and they've never let me down. I've never tried this via eBay though, so perhaps it's different, we do see a few threads from sellers whereby they've booked a collection and nobody has turned up. 

Not something I'd risk for an eBay order, tbh, I'd take the item to the nearest PO and send it out from there, though I do appreciate that some sellers may be unable to do this, for one reason or another.

Hi thanks for your reply and experience which is helpful. I agree when I book direct with RM they have always come for the collection, I have only recently used it as I broke my kneecap and getting to the PO is impossible, I will now go RM direct for collection - BW
