Duty and Tax

FedEx delivery are purchasing me for payment for goods purchase in Japan.

I paid all the asking price invoice to me by the seller.

Now I receive this invoice by FedEx requesting to pay another £38.97. Please help, I am confuse.

If you didn't pay the tax when you checked out, it is payable when your goods enter the country.

If you don't pay then you won't get the goods and won't be able to claim a refund through ebay.

Thank you for your reply. Usually, 20% tax is alway added the payment. But this instance no addional payment was added.

The seller did not include another payment later on.

If your item was over £135 then eBay don't collect the import fees because Customs Duty would also be applicable.

It's payable this end.

If an item bought outside the UK has import duty to be paid, if being delivered by Royal Mail then they require payment before delivery.

 Couriers tend to deliver then invoice for Customs Duty.

It is really up to buyers to be aware that buying anything outside the UK will incur  VAT or import duty.
