Double postage cost, only one label for both items.

Hello, I have sold two items to the same buyer.  eBay have charged double postage which was £5.54, but only allowed me to print one label.  It would only cost £2.75 to post both items in the same box, so the buyer has paid £5.54 for postage when £2.75 is what is would of cost.  This buyer has been over charged for postage by £2.79.  Surely this can't be right.  The cost of both items was £12.53, which is the amount I will receive, but the order has cost the buyer £20.22, therefore the buyer has been charged £7.69 for postage and buyer's protection. This is daylight robbery.

If 2 labels were purchased but only one used,  then:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.

I was only given the option of printing one label for both the items.  Both the items have gone into one box which should of cost £2.79, but eBay charged the buyer £5.54.  I always select buyer pays for postage costs.   The buyer won't get a refund on the cost of postage because there was not a label printed that was not used.  I should of had the choice to print 2 labels, but I didn't, then I would of only printed one so the buyer would get a refund on the unused label.

But you did print only one, so surely that means one was unused and should be refunded to buyer.

Seems to me the whole scheme is set up to make money for ebay and who cares about buyer or seller.

Just one thing you might like to consider as I think that letting buyer also buy label can in some  circumstances leave seller out of pocket, if for example the label is incorrect and seller has to buy a new label and buyer gets refund on original label.

Have seen this happen buyer is happy, but seller is several pounds out of pocket.

Yes, I did print only one label, because that was the only option I was given.  If I had been given the option to print two labels, then I would of printed both and sent both the items in separate parcels, because I have read that if both items are sent in one parcel, then there will only be tracking for one of the items.  I do check that I have selected the correct label for the items I will be posting, but eBay already does this for you.
