When checking what an item usually sells for under sold prices, does the price shown include the ‘buyer protection’ fee or not?

I have just checked for you. It shows the price including the buyers premium. However if you then click on the item it will say sold for £8.98 for example, includes BP of £1.03 so you know the original price in this example would have been £7.95.

It depends on several factors.
Not all items have the buyer protection fee added, it is being gradually rolled out.
If the item was sold by a business seller, there is no BPF.
Only items sold after 4th February could have the fee added and only electronics had it added that early.

What a buyer sees on the listing is the item price plus the BP fee combined, so they know this is the final amount they need to pay.
Then, at eBay checkout, they'll see the complete breakdown, that is, item cost going to seller, and the Buyer Protection fee cost, going to eBay.
