Dishonest seller?

Hi.

Has anyone been in the following situation and got any advice please? I bought a jacket, checked the photos carefully, no damage stated or shown. Item arrives, packaging undamaged and waterproof. Upon inspection there are greasy stains on the top of one shoulder, an area not visible in photos. Contact seller, they claim it wasn’t there when they packed it up. I know it must’ve been because I opened it carefully on my living room carpet. I want to return it as it’s not as per listing, they are refusing to accept it. I have opened a case with eBay but I am worried that this seller is dishonest and will refuse a full refund. I have recreated the listing photos are they are still showing the item as perfect as the area with the marks isn’t visible. Does it come down to her word against mine, am I likely to lose money on this through not fault of my own? I should’ve known better as the seller only has 3 feedback reviews.

Any advice please?

As long as you follow the Money Back Guarantee 'rules', you will get a full refund.

Give the correct reason when you open the case.

Ask Ebay to step in after 3 days if you don't get a label from the seller.

Return the item promptly and upload the tracking if you need to.  Sometimes it is uploaded automatically.

The seller has 48 hours after tracking shows they have the item back to refund you in full.

Dishonest seller?

Thank you, that’s reassuring. I have used the return process before but never been accused of causing damage so was a bit worried about it

Much appreciated.
