Direct debit

I have sold an item.

ebay are asking me to set up a direct debit before they will pay me my money.

This reads like a scam to me and I am not giving them new bank details.

As usual there is no way to get to speak to anyone at eBay.

Does anyone know how to get paid without setting up a direct debit?

Direct debit

It's not a scam,   you have to give eBay your bank details,   as this where eBay will send your payouts to.

It's called eBay's Managed Payments.  All sellers have to register for this to be able to receive payouts from sales,  see here:

You need to provide eBay with details of a bank account and have this account verified.  The usual method here, is for eBay to send 2 micro deposits into that nominated bank account for you to receive,  and confirm to eBay.

Once this is completed,  you will be able to list items for sale,  and receive payouts from those sales.

This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

If there is an issue with the registration contact eBay Customer Services,  who have full access to your account,  and can see where the issue lies and explain the steps you now need to take.

Contact them this way.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

As advised, there is not any way around this.

If you want to sell on Ebay, they need a linked bank account to make your payments into.

The direct debit would only be used if you had any listing fees, for example for optional upgrades, or Ebay awarded a refund to a buyer and you did not return the buyer's money in a timely fashion.
