Did you know Diligent is a banned word in feedback?

I didn't 🤷‍♀️

After a dreadful experience with a seller, I left ( negative) feedback. Which was justly deserved. Today I saw the feedback had been removed. So I spoke with an Ebay agent. To my astonishment I was told the feedback had been removed at request of the seller. What was so dreadful in my honest and not at all rude feedback? The word 'diligent'. I had written something along the lines of, " had you been so diligent when sending the item we would not be in this position now".

The offensive part, I was informed was the word 'diligent'.

Whilst the agent has now reported the seller, the fact remains an honest, detailed, polite , but negative feedback was removed for no valid reason. One wonders how many more they, and others, have managed to do the same with.

So be careful when posting feedback my fellow Ebayers. Sellers can have a feedback score that doesn't represent the true experience buyers have had.

I hope this post helps others who may think of using diligent in their feedback😉😁👍

I doubt very much it was that specific word that got your feedback removed.

You say you feedback was 'detailed' and that may be the issue.

The more you say, the more likely that you will break a rule.

Keep feedback brief and factual, rather than narrative and it is more likely to be left.

I'm afraid not everything you hear from CS is to be taken as gospel.

The word diligent most definitely did not  remove your post,  but any mention of an eBay involvement,  that is,  mention a case,  a refund,  then if the seller asks,  that will be removed,  no matter how politely the feedback has been written.

@jckl1957  is right,  I too feel eBay made an error here , allowing 500 characters to be written,  as the more a buyer writes,  the more scope there is for error .

It's better not to address feedback to "you". It isn't a conversation between yourself and the seller. It's to inform other buyers of yuor experience.

Negative feedback can be removed if it refers to the seller not doing something that eBay doesn't require sellers to do. It may be as simple as the fact that eBay doesn't say that sellers must be diligent!

Or perhaps someone at eBay doesn't know what diligent means. Or that in American gang slang it has some other meaning.

We keep on advising buyer to keep it simple, keep it factual, keep it short and don't personalise it. That way it won't be removed.

The bots picked up the word before it followed by diligent and made a swear word, it's nothing technically to do with that single word.

Why would you, who was not involved in the conversation between the agent and I, feel you can  'doubt' what I was clearly told? I was going to explain why your doubt is wrong, but have decided not to.

Why would you assume I mentioned Ebay? Also why would you accuse the CS girl of lying?

Another one who is either calling the agent a liar or a fool. Ridiculous.

To clarify:
I have no doubt at all that the agent told you that your feedback was removed because you used the word 'diligent'.

Nobody has suggested that your account of the conversation was untrue.

However, I will never believe that the feedback was removed for that reason.

I apologise if my response to your post offended or annoyed you but this is a public forum and you did invite comment by posting in here.

I will not be replying to, or even reading, any more posts on this thread. This is due to assumptions about the feedback,  about me, about the customer support agent, as well as condescending and patronising attitudes. My post is a true and factual account of my experience. Other than the CS agent involved no-one else was there and as such cannot state, or argue that, anything written is untrue.

What are you on about?

The CS agent was correct, it is the word 'diligent', prefixed by the word 'so'.

I've provided you with clear information why your feedback was removed. Even highlighted it in red. You accidentally made a swear word that a bot picked up, happens a lot. No great shakes.
