Daged beyond repair - seller

Hi, I sold on eBay, printed the simple delivery note and sent the parcel to the buyer.  A couple of days later I received a notification from Evri stating that the parcel had been damaged beyond repair.  (Highly unlikely unless it was set on fire or shredded!).  Evri and Ebay think I'm the buyer, ebay have today paid me the buyers money.  I messaged the buyer as soon as I got the notification about the damage.  I've heard nothing from the buyer or ebay, am I supposed to return the money received and then claim ebay or evri for the parcel?

Thank you.

With Simple Delivery if item is lost or damaged in transit ebay refund the buyer themselves and you keep the payment.   The buyer is supposed to open a relevant case and ebay then issue the refund.   Buyers may sometimes contact customer support and they issue the refund.
