Customer wants to return the laptop I sold because he can't figure how to use software

So I sold my Acer Aspire 8943g laptop. Despite it been 15yrs old it has remarkable specs and it's and 18inch screen. The seller is upset because some of the standard software no longer works for example the Blu-ray player. Which I had messaged to him to download Cyberlink which I had but I deleted all the software as it's under my name and licence. I spent £20 on postage.  I told him I'd refund the payment but if I'm charged for the return of the laptop I will not give a full refund. Is this the correct thing to do?

If it's the one that sold on the 30th you gave the buyer the perfect opportunity to claim it is not as described by having Windows 10 in the title and Windows 7 in the description.   I think you should also have mentioned the age, 15 years old for a laptop is important information.  That is irrespective of the software issue which is more of a grey area.

If they open a case for returning it on any basis that does not count as a change of mind, then you will have to follow the process of issuing a label at your expense and refunding the full amount when you get the laptop back.

That's how the money back guarantee works.

I did let the customer know that he would need to download Cyberlink software to play blurays and dvds as the original software is no longer supported by Microsoft.  All computers last sold with a Blu-ray player drive won't have the new support for this because the new laptops and new versions of windows do not come with Blu-ray /dvd drives.. you have to get third party software through the Microsoft store and pay for it as I had to do.

The laptop was reset to a fresh state to personalised as any device you'd expect when you purchase.

Despite the age of the laptop it is in excellent condition, extremely high spec and even the battery is in good condition.
