Courier damaged a parcel and now buyer wants to return it (global shipping courier)

I sold a vinyl record to a customer in Australia and they have contacted me to say the package has a big slice in it as does the vinyl sleeve but the slice has been taped over. It has been taped with regular plastic tape but I only use paper tape so I am 100% sure it was not done by me.

The customer naturally wants to return the item and I agree she has received a damaged item but the courier has damaged it and not reported it. I don't know how I go about claiming for the damage as it was sent via the global shipping service. Obviously I will have to accept the return and refund the customer but that just leaves me out of pocket and with a record that has a sliced sleeve.

Any suggestions on what I can do here?

Ask the buyer to open a return case using the reason  "Arrived damaged".   You should respond on the case with the postal tracking number and state that according to Global T&Cs you are not responsible for loss or damage in transit after it has arrived safely at the UK hub.
