The seller has come back with a counter offer. I still want the item but I'm not willing to increase my offer. There doesn't  seem to be facility to do this. What do I do to put my position across?

The seller has not accepted your offer so if you don't want to buy at their counter offer price there's nothing you can do.

Thanks. Why doesn't it say that on the eBay info page?

What if the seller gets no more offers, can they come back to me and accept my previously submitted final offer?

No, your original offer is no longer valid.    You can always contact the seller via the link on the top right of the listing, just below their account name.   If you can agree a price they can relist at that price (now they've had offers they won't be able to revise the current listing).

Offers provide a chance  chance for serious buyers to by-pass the uncertainty of bidding by offering what the seller may accept as a realistic price. It isn't intended as an invitation to haggle or another way of bidding.

Otherwise, just bid in the usual way. You may get it for a bargain price, or you may be swept away by higher bids. But if you want the item bady enough, that's the uncertainty that making an offer is designed to avoid.

If you do agree a price with the seller don't forget to add the buyer fee to your offer

The Buyer Protection fee is calculated as:

  • A flat fee of up to £0.10 per item, and
  • 7% of the item price up to £20, and
  • 4% of any portion of the item price from £20 to £300, and
  • 2% of any portion of the item price from £300 to £4,000

for example if the buyer wanted £20 your offer would have to be £21.50 as eBay take their cut from your offer.
