I am getting hugely frustrated at the lack of monitoring and clamping down on the selling of perfume "free samples" and counterfeit perfumes. Over 20 sellers just yesterday I was able to spot inconsistencies in the bottles and packaging that clearly point to them being counterfeit. I've even engaged with some of these sellers asking them to show more photos and asking if they are selling authentic products, some consistently stick to their story, 100% authentic. Others give lame stories "it was a gift" so I don't know... acting as if ignorance will sidestep illegally selling this potential poison! Quite a few realise they are getting ousted and immediately remove as if sold... so how is it I can manage that in a day, yet a Global company like ebay is ignoring my reporting, suggesting my reports of these sellers don't violate ebays policy! Like what!? Its not my job to police the sellers on ebay, I am not an employee... I see this as potential liable cases for ebay if any of these counterfeit perfumes have dangerous chemicals used in their fake perfume. This isn't like a fake hoodie, this perfume is being used on people's bodies. Why is this being ignored? You only have to read reviews on some of these sellers and they are saying "my purchase wasn't authentic" and comments online of buyers talking alot about this happening to them. WHY ISN'T EBAY LISTENING & ACTING?

eBay does act but they can't on a message from a member who sees an inconsistency on a photo, as some 'lazy' sellers do use other people's photographs, it is allowed, so may not actually be photographing the item they are selling. I know , it's silly but as said, not disallowed so you could be accusing an innocent person. On top of that, if a seller uses the daft , flouncy AI descriptions, it can add to making an item really look fake.
Another reason why eBay cannot act on messages , they do receive these claims of ' seller selling fakes' and this comes from competitors, it does happen.
What eBay do act on is cases. If a buyer receives a fake item they should open a case for item not as described for a full refund. If too many of these cases are opened, too many refunds recorded by a seller, it raises red flags to eBay and the seller can receive a permanent restriction, meaning a lifetime ban to sell anything on eBay.
If buyers act correctly and open those cases it helps eBay eliminate and ban these sellers of fake items.

It's pointless reporting counterfeit perfumes to eBay. They will only remove items from sale when reported by the registered owner of the brand name. Quote: "Only intellectual property rights owners can report eBay listings that infringe on their copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights".
eBay suggests that "Members who are not the rights owner can still help by getting in touch with the owner and encouraging them to contact us". So that's what they should have replied to you.
Unfortunately, eBay relies heavily on so-called AI auto-responses. However, AI they are not. "Real" AI would recognise the subject matter and explain the relevant Bay's policy.

Please don't confuse buying from strangers on eBay with buying from the shops. eBay is a jungle. eBay's user agreement makes it clear that they take no responsibility for sellers' listings and even warn buyers that "they do not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions". Would you buy from a shop that stated this?? Don't be surprised if items sold here are illegal, fake or even unsafe. You have this information from eBay itself!

What i find after these replies is this, eBay clearly knows illegal behaviour is happening on their site, but choose to ignore it, because let's face it, they still make money from the fraudsters so why would they address it? eBay is going downhill fast in my estimations and after being a seller on here for over 17yrs, i guess morally i'll have to choose wisely moving forwards.
Thank you for your time.
