Constant lies from Ebay agents!

I imagine Ebay have training sessions for their staff on how to lie effectively.

Lie no. 1 Several times I have been told a pending payment has been released so that I get it in 24 hours.  This doesn't happen and another agent tells me this isn't possible and I have to wait upto 14 days - they cannot release funds like that.

Lie no. 2.  You can opt out of 'simple delivery'.  One agent told me this was possible, I have just been told by another that you cannot opt out.  This means I am expected to use a company like Evri to deliver a fragile item - they have treated my items like footballs in the past!

Lie no. 3 If you list an item and include postage in the price so you can use your own courier (which reduces the chance of selling as then shows the item as 'collection only').  Send the buyer the tracking reference and then you will be paid when delivered - 

This doesn't happen and you have to rely on the buyer sending you the code to say the item was 'collected' - though actually delivered. 

I'm sure there are plenty of other lies and will start to log them .  I wish I didn't have to use ebay and am really hoping other selling sites will start to become more popular so I can stop using them.

Yes ebay CS are well known for giving conflicting and wrong advice.

You've certainly received some Terrible information from Customer Services,  and hate to say it, I'm not shocked at any new news here!

Not in order,  but to your ' Lie no.2' first!

Nope,  you cannot opt out of Simple Delivery if you are a Private seller , it is mandatory.  Though there are certain items in certain categories which are exempt,  for example  some lightweight and oversize items.  You can use your own postage / courier , but there is no way then to  upload tracking now, or to mark those items as dispatched, so part of your ' Lie No. 1' comes into play here, as those payouts can be held a minimum of 14 days before release.

You don't have to use Evri,  you can deselect it from your postal options in your Site Preferences or here:

In ' Lie 3'  you should be able to list either Postage Paid for by seller the ol' ' Free Postage' , or there is a separate Collection only option,  whereby there , that collection code is essential for buyer to bring to seller.

Yep, Simple Delivery is not perfect, the 2 big bonuses are eBay take up and fully refund any item sent by SD and is lost or damaged in transit, and the seller gets to keep the payout.  Items also insured for up to £750.
