Collection only seller fees

Hello dear.

I am the seller.

Buyer couldn't afford to collect the item, he expected that I post it, but it was clearly stated that item for collection only. When he requested to cancel it, I ve received a message with fees I believe I have to pay. I believe it's unfair to pay fees in this situation. Thank you

Collection only seller fees

You received £29.90 from the sale. Buyer paid total of £31.83 including ebay buyers fee of £1.92.

You are refunding exactly the same amount, £29.90 but as you do not have enough in your ebay account, the balance comes from your bank. Ebay refunds their BUYERS FEE of £1.92

If you sell something and refund, the refund is exactly what you have received, any fees charged to BUYER are refunded by ebay.

All so simple, but I am afraid some of the answers have missed the point.

If you promoted the item or used any additional upgrades, there may be fees to pay but there won't be any seller's fees.

You do need to be aware that you are absolutely not allowed to sell used child car seats on Ebay.

If you relist this set, you will have to relist it without the car seat.

Yes, but ebay would charge me 3.95 from my bank, if I accept to cancel
it(please see attachment). I didn't receive any money on my bank account
only on ebay fund, and its not faithful that I have to pay £3.95 from my
bank account because seller can't collect the item. How would I make any
buissness, if there will be so many dumb buyers who can't collect item when
it clearly shows collection only.

You did not attach anything to this reply.

I don't understand why they would make that charge.

What is it for?

Looks like you didn't have enough money in ebay for refund, so they take the difference from your linked bank.

It is not a fee.

That 3.95 is a fee that you owe for promoting the listing.

It is not a selling fee, but the amount Ebay charge for something you chose to add to your listing to help it to sell more quickly.

If you don't accept the cancellation, the buyer will be able to open an 'item not received' case to get their money back and you will still owe the fee.

If you don't want to pay charges, then it is best not to promote your listings.  You have to accept that you will get cancellations and returns.

I still believe it's not right what eBay does, charging even if the item hasn't sold yet, especially since it was the buyer's mistake. I wouldn't mind paying fees if the item had been sold or if there was any mistake on my part towards the buyer. Generally, selling a used car seat is not illegal in the UK, but eBay may have rules that didn't prohibit me from posting it.

You didn't list the childs' car seat in the right category which is why is slipped through the net.

Charity shops won't/can't accept second hand car seats because they are simply not allowed to be sold in the UK.

In future, don't choose to promote your items and you won't have these fees to pay.  I understand your view that is is not 'fair' or 'right', but it is what it is.

The seller is losing £3.95p as they stated.  It is for promoting their listing. The ad fee for that amount is shown in their post and above.

Collection only seller fees

I checked my eBay balance, which was £29.90, and now it's exactly £3.95 after I canceled it. The other £3.95 will be charged from the bank. I beleive its been stated insufficient funds on the invoice on that number details I had, didnt make screenshot. I didn't check my balance initially but relied on the refund invoice information instead. It seems that  ~£25 is for the item, and £3.95 might be an eBay service fee (AD FEE GENERAL) that should only be paid by bank transfer as per their policy or something like this? Thanks all for your help anyway.
