Hi, I listed an Apple MacBook Pro, had lots of watchers and 2 bidders. When sold there was no immediate payment so I messaged the buyer to say thank you and payment reminder. They then cancelled the purchase, extremely frustrating but now I have been charged by eBay as it still says SOLD but no payment for it has been made by the buyer. Why has this gapped and what can I do? Tried to contact eBay but all I get is a BOT that doesn’t have an answer for this.
Thank you

You listed the item with a reserve (and have relisted it with a reserve).
There is a non-refundable charge of 4% so, if the reserve is £260, you would be charged £10.40.
You have to pay that even if the item doesn't sell or the sale falls through. As you have now relisted the item, you will be charged again, even if you cancel.
It is better to just list at the lowest price you will accept.
When you create a listing, you can add a reserve, it does say it is optional - fees apply and then, when you look at the information box, it says:
'This is the lowest price you're willing to sell an item for. A non-refundable listing fee, charged when the listing goes live, applies whether or not the item sells.'

I cannot see that you had a reserve on the first listing, but buyers cannot cancel, they can only request cancellation.
What you should have done is cancel for none payment, giving buyer an unpaid strike. In any case you should add buyer to your blocked bidders list.
