Cancel shows as buyer requested

Hi

Confused by something that’s never happened to me on eBay before.

won an auction on Thursday.

Didn’t see the notification till late Friday night that payment was due. Also had a message from seller checking ‘if I still wanted it’.

attempted to pay last night however app was unable to connect - I’m away from home.

this morning the item shows that Thr seller ‘accepted my request to cancel the sale’.

This doesn’t make sense as  I never requested to cancel, had until the 26th to pay and it was the seller who was clearly pushing to have the sale completed quickly.

its a low value item £15 so its not a big deal but why does the status say ‘seller completed your cancellation’ request?

Are sellers able to give the reason as ‘buyer requested a cancellation’?

FWIW the item still shows in my Purchases as I purchased it?

Your seller was clearly very impatient.

Sellers can use the reason 'buyer asked to cancel' but clearly should not do this unless it is the truth.

If you want to, you can report the seller to Ebay.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. Just find a better seller to give your business and money to.

Helpful thanks!

Definitely feel like eBay shouldn’t allow sellers to post lies like that
