Called dishonest

After selling and buyer for 23 years I recently was called dishonest by a buyer as I had to cancel and refund an item as I could not find it.

The buyer had recently tried to get a reduction by sending me a private message, also a rude message about when I was posting it.

He left me negative feedback and called me dishonest in capitol letters  with red X's

I asked eBay to remove ,they would not, saying it's not a big deal,

It's a big deal to me, apart from 23 years of perfect 100% feedback, I am an honest straightforward person. It was misplaced , I cancelled and refunded ,with a view to letting this seller know when found ,but he called me dishonest,

Anybody else been in this position?

Seriously thinking the current eBay might not be for me anymore ,since clearly eBay do not care about some private sellers  and want you off the platform ,even to the extent you cannot defend or reply in feedback to slander.

Any positive advice welcome

You can leave a carefully worded reply to the negative you've received mentioning that you couldn't find the item.

After listing an item I place it in a 'listed' box so I know exactly where to find it if it sells, only because you can list an item on Buy It Now and it doesn't sell for months and then you can't find it when it does (been there!).

Hi vyolla,

Thanks for replying,

I am usually well organised for eBay ,keep everything in labelled plastic boxes with  a cross match book to where it is, this item wasn't in my system ,I stead in a wardrobe and got moved ,

The main issue for me is this clown calling me dishonest after nearly 25 years of perfect 100 % feedback and thousands of transactions,

eBay have become a waste of time if your my type of seller, they think it's fine it's just one negative feedback ,but for me this clown called dishonest in big capitol letters , and I need to do something about it

The issue is that some sellers give false reasons for not posting items and some buyers can be quick to moan.

As said, leave a polite response explaining.

Nothing in comments that ebay will remove, it is buyers opinion of transaction.
