Look for an established seller with good feedback and recent transactions.  Has the seller sold other phones?

If you are looking for a new phone, use a seller with a business account.

if the price looks 'too good to be true', if the seller's account is new, if they have not sold anything for a while, or if they have negative feedback, find a different seller.

I don't know what AIG means.

"There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”

Re: Buying

AIG is basically AppleCare, which you're unlikely to get via eBay.

You'll need to purchase that separately via Apple if you want it.

You can minimise the risk by only buying from well established sellers with multiple good feedbacks and high seller "star" ratings for the sale of phones.

But bear in mind that eBay's own money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days. If the phone turns out to be faulty, or is reported stolen and blocked, from day 31 eBay will not get involved. You can give yourself valuable extra protection by paying by credit card; if the item costs over £100 you will then also be protected by section 75 of the consumer credi

As regards any warranty the seller offers, this will be between you and the seller. Having good ratings for selling doesn't tell you what quality of after-sales service the seller may provide.

Don't expect eBay to be like buying from the shops. eBay itself even warns buyers that they don't guarantee the quality of items sold here, or that they will be truthfully described, safe, legal or even exist. Would you buy from a shop that stated this? It's your choice where to buy things. There may be attractions to buying on eBay, but it's not risk-free.
