Buying a vehicle

Buying a vehicle without looking at it first. What are my eBay rights if I get there and find things wrong with it?

Re: Buying a vehicle

There is no buyer protection on ebay for vehicles.   There are scams involving getting payments by bank transfer and you never get the vehicle so it's not worth the risk.   Only buy one that you can examine thoroughly before paying.

Thanks for the reply. It’s cash on collection so I’m not worried about a scam, I’m more worried about getting there and the vehicle not starting or having issues etc

Re: Buying a vehicle

As it's for cash on collection you can bring the cash to pay if everythung is okay - but remember you also need an HPI check that and it's your entire resposibility to check the condition of the vehicle. There is no protection whatsoever for vehicles bought through eBay if they turn out to be faulty, or even stolen.

If you're not satisfied with the vehicle all you can do is to ask your seller to cancel the sale by mutual agreement. Be aware that they could disagree with your reasons and cancel the sale because you didn't pay. This would place an unpaid item strike on your account, which you could possibly appeal to eBay.
