Buyers not responding

Since ebay have changed their transaction process it just seems to favour buyers (not including the free listing of items and the buyers protection fee).

I have had multiple issues with buyers winning auctions and then just not responding at all, so I am just left having to cancel the order and relist and nothing happens to the buyer.

You can't leave them negative feedback and you can't even contact ebay to complain, all you can do is file a report about a problem with a transaction and it is only for a select couple of reasons which doesn't include buyers basically just messing you about, and even if you do file report you hear nothing from ebay, you might as well write a report and flush it down the toilet.

If this was a proper auction they would either be forced to pay or just banned, I know they get a "strike" but its like a slap on the wrist, how many strikes do they have to get before they get banned and how long is it for?

Even if they get banned they will just open a new account and carry on regardless, as a buyer there is no accountability as they don't need to have built up a history of feedback as you need to become a trusted seller.

If this is what ebay buyers have become then it may be time for me to only use my account to buy and to start looking for a different platform to sell my items

As long as sellers leave false positive for non-paying buyers instead of hitting them with an unpaid strike the problem will continue.

You say "I know they get a "strike" but they only get a strike when the seller cancels for the reason "Did not pay"

This reason appears after day 4, as buyers get 4 days to pay.

Buyer gets a strike which lasts for 12 months, so if you had done this, and he proves to be a non payer again during this time he'd get another strike which would prevent him from bidding and buying from sellers who have their preferences set to ban buyers with 2 strikes or more.

To set your preferences search Preferences in ebay help.

You used to be able to leave a negative feedback but now you can't unless the transaction is completed, just another way that it has been changed to favour buyers.

And like I said even if you cancel the order and they get an unpaid strike, how many do they need to get to any kind of sanction?

What is the sanction?

And whats to stop them opening another account and carrying on?

The most recent buyer that has messed me about has only got 11 feedbacks, hardly a long history!

Even if they do have a lot of feedback, it only matters if they are looking to sell stuff.

If you are looking to buy something it doesn't matter if you have zero feedback

I realise I haven't stated that I cancelled the sale with the reason "did not pay" but this is what I do.

I'm just pointing out that this system doesn't affect a buyer negatively, they can just start a new account and buy whatever they want, its not like you have to build up good feedback to be a trusted buyer, you can have 0 feedback and buy whatever you want

Even if the transaction is complete you cannot leave negative feedback for buyers.

eBay stopped it over a decade ago.

Does this perhaps refer to items sold on another account? You are not currently selling anything and have received no feedback as a seller for over a year. You have left only one feedback for a buyer (a false positive which, incidentally, the buyer could have had removed).

When sellers refer to "multiple issues" with buyers it's helpful to be able to see the relevent feedback history to get a feel for anything that might contribute to having so many problems.

Otherwise, all we can do is point out eBay's rules. The (fairly) new option to cancel for non-payment is a huge improvement over the previous unpaid item procedure, which buyers could run rings around. Unpaid item strikes last for a year and two strikes mean that most sellers will block them from bidding.

If going to the trouble of opening a new account and losing their feedback is the ony way to buy again, this itself is quite a discouragement to casual non-payment.
